Terugbetaling van nog 2 andere nieuwe preventieve migraine medicijnen!

Nieuwe doorbraak voor personen met migraine: weldra worden ook de langverwachte innovatieve nieuwe medicijnen Ajovy®( fremazumab) en Emgality® (galcanezumab) uit de nieuwe CGRP klasse terugbetaald voor migrainepatiënten en daar zijn wij als patiëntenvereniging ontzettend blij mee.

Vanaf 1 juli wordt Ajovy®( Teva) en Emgality® (Eli Lilly) in ons land terugbetaald voor volwassenen met minstens 8 migrainedagen per maand en ten minste 3 eerder gefaalde  profylactische behandelingen.

Heel recent werd een ander medicijn Aimovig® van Novartis ook al goedgekeurd. Op korte termijn werden zo 3 goedwerkende medicijnen van de CGRP klasse goedgekeurd waar patiënten met ernstige migraine baat bij kunnen hebben. Hier gaat de terugbetaling reeds in vanaf 1 Juni!

De opluchting bij lotgenoten is enorm groot nu er meerdere preventieve medicijnen op de markt zijn komen die doelgericht en preventief werken. Eerder moesten patiënten hun toevlucht zoeken tot medicijnen die oorspronkelijk niet bestemd waren om migraine te behandelen. Deze hadden vaak ongewenste bijwerkingen.

Onze positieve petitie “Schiet uit je sloffen” die vzw Hoofd-Stuk 1.5 jaar geleden startte heeft zonder twijfel mooie resultaten geboekt. De vele duizenden getuigenissen van hoofdpijnpatiënten werden door de beleidsmakers goed opgepikt en gehoord.

Mik Ver Berne (vzw Hoofd-Stuk): “Wij zijn als patiëntenvereniging ontzettend blij dat er verschillende preventiemedicijnen die specifiek voor migraineontwikkeld zijn in terugbetaling op de markt komen. Hierdoor zullen velen opnieuw op een normale manier pijnvrij kunnen werken, hun sociaal leven ongestoord oppikken en zullen gezinsleden minder last ervaren. Een vaak terugkerende uitspraak die we te horen krijgen is: “Ik heb mijn leven terug”.”

Migraine is wel degelijk een neurologische aandoening. Deze terugbetaling wordt dan ook als een erkenning van onze ziekte gezien.
